Kelly Ripa Cut Her Son Joaquin’s Hair On Live TV

Hosting Live with Kelly and Ryan remotely isn't the only big change in Kelly Ripa's life these days. She's taken up the mantle of hair dresser for her entire family during the COVID-19 quarantine. She's become so confident in her newly acquired skills, she cut her son Joaquin's hair during an episode of her talk show. She shared the results with Ryan Seacrest and their viewers with a little help from Joaquin, too.

Before sharing a time-lapse video of Joaquin's haircut, Kelly gave viewers a little background information about how she started cutting her family's hair. "I've cut every member of our family's hair now during quarantine because I'm still not brave enough to head into a hair salon or have anybody come to the house," she explained "I'm just too afraid. I just feel like there's too many unknowns still."

Out of all her children and her husband, Kelly noted that Joaquin's hair is the most difficult to cut and style. "Joaquin has my hair. Everybody else in the family has Mark [Consuelos'] hair," she said. "It is bone straight, it's shiny, it's easy to cut, it just sort of lays the right way. Joaquin and I have the same head of hair, which is to say it is wiry, it's thick, it's dense, it's got lots of layers, he's got cowlicks. It's not the easiest hair to cut."

Despite the challenge, both Kelly and Joaquin were impressed with the outcome. "I think I have a future in $500 haircuts," the talk show host insisted. "I cut my hands in three places, did not realize I was bleeding all over the place."

Joaquin joined the show after the time lapse video, as well, and told viewers that he's "really happy" with his mom's handiwork. "I feel much more aerodynamic now. The only thing is, I turn on my phone and I have a Face ID, and it doesn't recognize me because I used to look like Judge Judy and now I look like Joaquin. We might not actually have to go to the barbershop ever again. This is a game changer."
