Alex Trebek's Final Episode Of 'Jeopardy!' To Air In December

Alex Trebek's final episode as host of Jeopardy! will air on Christmas (December 25).

As you know, the beloved TV host died in his sleep on Sunday due to complications from Stage IV pancreatic cancer. He was 80. Due to his illness, the star filmed a batch of episodes of the game show competition ahead of time and his final installment will air on the monumental holiday, according to JustJared. While Jeopardy! typically films five episodes per day, that schedule was always dependent on Trek's health. His final day in the studio took place on October 29, just 10 days before his death.

Meanwhile, PEOPLE reported that new episodes of the ABC show will air leading up to the holiday broadcast. However, Sony Pictures Television does not have plans for Jeopardy! after the Christmas Day episode.

"Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends," the Jeopardy! show accounted tweeted after the news of his passing surfaced. "Thank you, Alex."
