Taylor Swift has revealed that she's finally begun re-recording her older music, and teased that she has "plenty of surprises in store" for fans in a new update. She explained, "Been getting a lot of questions about the recent sale of my old masters. I hope this clears things up."
In a lengthy letter to fans posted to Twitter, Taylor explained that after failing to regain ownership of her master recordings, they have now been sold to a private equity firm called Shamrock Holdings. The note went on to say that after the sale, the firm had reached to Swift in hopes of striking up a partnership, but she ultimately declined after learning the details of their deal with Scooter Braun.
Towards the end of the letter, she revealed that she has now started to re-record her older music, and that the process has been "both exciting and creatively fulfilling," also promising "plenty of surprises in store." She ended the update by thanking fans for their support "through this ongoing saga," and that she "can't wait for you to hear what I've been dreaming up."
Taylor also included her correspondence from the end of October with Shamrock Holdings, "for transparency and clarification," that explained why she couldn't move forward with a partnership, and letting them know that she is moving forward with the re-recording of her old music. She explained, "It's a shame to know that I will now be unable to help grow the future of these past works and it pains me very deeply to remain separated from the music I spent over a decade creating."
